It's getting close to Christmas again. That means Arrowhead Clubhouse will be open for Christmas Day for the third year in a row. Once again, we are hoping to gather enough presents for all our members.
This year has been busy. We have developed an outstanding Art Program which has only been possible due to the generous donations from the community. This has led to the Art Center giving us Free Lessons. We will be holding our First Arts and Crafts and Baking Sale on December 6th. Peer Support has been busy. They plan our events and have started a Talking Circle. They also make sure to give out cards for Birthdays, and other things such as a Get Well or Thank You. We also visit our members who are in the hospital.
The garden was thriving this Summer, especially the tomato plants that slipped into our new flower garden. We are planning on making new beds this Winter. Our second shed (built by the Members) filled up quickly despite the fact that it had been questioned if we needed it! Our gazebo got a paint makeover that we love, hopefully, the painters do some more work and maybe decorate some of our wooden garden beds.
We had two deaths this year. Dale Wigton, a well-loved member, passed away in May. Pam Baird’s father, Doug Baird, passed away at the end of October. We are all sad for the loved ones left behind. We are putting a plaque in our garden for Dale.
One really great thing that happened to our Members was Housing! Over 25 of our members went from homelessness to housed! This has made our Clubhouse very different. It is nice to see people happy and involved now that their daily needs are taken care of. This also makes our requests for presents different as household items are needed! We still have members who are homeless and at Christmas, this can be very depressing.
Anyway, here we are in 2019, in your community, hoping you will reach out at Christmas time by dropping off a little something for those who have less. We appreciate all the gifts we have received each year. We all enjoy opening our presents and even sharing them around so everyone gets what they want and need.
Thank you,
Members of Arrowhead Clubhouse
