Re-Opening News

Great news - earlier this week Arrowhead’s re-opening Safety Plan was approved. We now have a date when we can start our gradual re-opening.

Thursday, July 9th, we will be opening the doors of Arrowhead Clubhouse. As I have discussed before, it is important to remember that after a major destabilizing event, like the global COVID pandemic, we should not expect things to return to ‘normal’. The reality is the clubhouse is going to look very different – to meet provincial health and safety standards we HAVE to maintain social distancing. That means that we have to keep 6 feet between people in the clubhouse. That changes how we are going to operate and we all need to work together to create new systems that work for all of us. Here are some key things you should be aware of re-entering the space:

  •  everyone will be asked to sign a wellness agreement on entering the space (stating that they have no COVID symptoms and have not left the country in the last 14 days)

  • all will have to wear masks inside the building

  • we can only have 10 members in the space at one time

  •  we are opening Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays - 10 to 12 and 1 to 3

  • Lunch we are going to keep simple – sandwiches, fruit and a drink to start (but it will be free)

I am not pretending that this will not be strange or that I am not terribly sad at the loss of our pre-COVID clubhouse. The loss makes me realise even more how amazing and special it truly was. I think many will equally find re-entering the clubhouse in July new and different but we will get to see each other after many, many months and we can start to work together to figure out how to best rebuild our clubhouse, within the provincial health and safety directions, to once again meet our needs and allow us to support one another.

To finish I will make one request, time. Please give yourselves and the staff time to acclimatize to the new clubhouse normal. For the first few weeks please be extra understanding, gentle, and kind to each other.

See you in the Clubhouse,

Foye
